JACKSON, Miss. - Madison Miller has earned the state's weekly honor after putting together big performances for Northeast Mississippi Community College against a pair of nationally ranked teams.

Miller was selected as the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) Player of the Week for games played during Thanksgiving break.

"I can't say how proud I am of her," said Lady Tigers head coach Chelsey Rhodes. "Madi has been playing great. She's playing so hard and smart. She's just putting herself on the line for what she knows we have to have for us to be successful."

Miller was dynamic during the opening game of the inaugural Northeast Thanksgiving Classic versus then 17th-ranked Chipola (Fla.) College. She set two new career-highs with 23 points and 13 rebounds in the upset victory.

She accounted for the Lady Tigers' first points a little less than two minutes into the contest on a layup that was assisted by Jasmine Malone. Miller had 10 points in the second quarter alone to help Northeast erase an early double-digit deficit.

The Lady Tigers trailed 26-18 before back-to-back buckets by Miller made it a two-possession game. Her three-pointer with 2:51 to go in the half capped a 13-0 run that pushed Northeast ahead for good.

She gave the Lady Tigers their largest lead of the night at 56-41 with a pair of free throws at the 3:59 mark of the third period. It was the second double-double of Miller's career and her first as a sophomore.

The Nettleton High School graduate had 15 points one day later against then-No. 20 Shelton State (Ala.) Community College. She was 5 of 6 from the charity stripe and added four boards plus two assists.

"It feels like I've accomplished something, but I've still got work to do," Miller said. "I just do my thing out there. My teammates and my coaches have been motivating me. As long as I have their support, I'll be fine."

Miller averages the second most points and rebounds for Northeast through nine contests with 10.9 and 6.8, respectively. She trails only fellow forward Alexis Rowe in both of those categories.

She started in every game prior to the Christmas break before an injury prematurely ended her freshman campaign. Miller now has nine career double figure performances, including three in a row.

Miller and the Lady Tigers play their final home game of the fall semester on Thursday, November 30 versus Gadsden State (Ala.) Community College. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. inside Bonner Arnold Coliseum.
