Northeast Mississippi Community College’s sports medicine department is an integral part of intercollegiate athletics on the Booneville campus. Our athletic trainers provide professional services in order to ensure the safety and competitiveness of our approximately 190 student-athletes across nine sports.
Our athletes are under the capable watch of the head athletic trainer Ziggy Marro, assistant athletic trainers Anna Bolton and Danielle Ashley plus several student trainers. Their mission is to provide prevention, recognition, evaluation and rehabilitation services.
Our athletic trainers work closely with outside medical providers to ensure that every athlete has access to the right care when they need it. Marro, Ashley and Bolton are active members of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA), the Southeast Athletic Trainers’ Association (SEATA) and the Mississippi Athletic Trainers’ Association (MATA).
Vision Statement
The Northeast Mississippi Community College sports medicine staff will become the leader in the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) in providing services to our student-athletes through the application of the highest professional standards in the field of athletic training.
Successful achievement will be measured by how quickly we safely return student-athletes to their prospective sports and achieve perfect compliance with all legal and ethical standards set forth by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA).
