BOONEVILLE, Miss. - The Northeast Mississippi Community College softball program will not set a new record for most home games in a single season for a third straight year.
However, there will still be plenty of opportunities to see the Tigers in person locally with more than 30 contests at The Plex during the upcoming 2025 campaign.
"We've got the best crowd anywhere," said Northeast head coach Jody Long. "You're going to see us continue to play a ton of games at home, but, at the same time, I think our kids need to understand how to play on the road in February."
The first 10 for the Tigers will take place on the Booneville campus beginning with the season-opener against Motlow State (Tenn.) Community College on Saturday, February 1. Northeast plans to recognize another stellar sophomore class on that date.
The TigerFest, which continues to be one of the longest running events in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), is five days over the course of two weekends for the second year in a row.
The annual tournament once again features institutions from the states of Illinois, Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee, including first-time participant Pellissippi State (Tenn.) Community College.
The Tigers welcome Des Moines Area (Ill.) Community College, Mineral Area (Mo.) College and Shawnee (Ill.) Community College for the Coach David Carnell Challenge from February 28-March 1.
Northeast also accepted an invitation to play in the JUCO Extravaganza from February 20-21 at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Ala., which is the location of this year's NJCAA Division II World Series.
Two of the initial three conference doubleheaders are at home starting in mid-March with consecutive Saturday matinees with Coahoma Community College and Southwest Mississippi Community College.
The Tigers meet rivals Itawamba Community College and Northwest Mississippi Community College in back-to-back weeks. Northeast hosts the Indians on Tuesday, March 25 and travels to the Rangers on Wednesday, April 2.
Northeast also entertains a pair of national tournament teams from last season in Copiah-Lincoln Community College on Saturday, April 12 and East Central Community College on Good Friday.
This will be the Tigers' sixth year at The Plex. Northeast has won 25-plus games inside its multi-million dollar facility in each of the last two campaigns with an overall winning percentage of .763.
