BOONEVILLE, Miss. - The Northeast Mississippi Community College golf program is set to travel from border-to-border inside the Magnolia State during the 2022-23 academic year.

The Tigers will compete in six conference tournaments that are split evenly between the fall and spring semesters as part of a challenging regular season schedule.

"We're playing some of the most prestigious courses in the state," said Northeast head coach Derek DeVaughn. "We're looking forward to trying to figure them out. Once we get started, we're going to be going wide open. It's going to be fast paced."

Northeast received hosting privileges for the inaugural event of the new campaign from September 12-13 just three miles from the state of Tennessee at Shiloh Ridge Athletic Club in Corinth.

The Tigers won the last competition that was played at Shiloh Ridge in late September of 2020. It was the start of a successful stretch over the previous two years in which Northeast has been consistently ranked among the top 15 teams nationally.

Shiloh Ridge encompasses more than 6,800 total yards from the longest tees. It recently finished renovations to the par-three eighth hole that features a picturesque island green.

"I'm excited to bring the rest of the conference up," DeVaughn said. "It's going to be good to see the changes and improvements. I think the course is going to be set up just fine. I can't wait."

The Tigers go on the road for the remainder of the season starting with a trip from September 29-30 to Beau Pre' Country Club near the Louisiana state line. It is Northeast's inaugural appearance at the Natchez based course.

Northeast makes its return to Meridian's Briarwood Golf Club from October 10-11. The Tigers captured the 2021 Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) championship at that venue.

The fall portion of Northeast's slate comes to a close from October 24-25 at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Invitational in Gulfport. It is a unique event for the Tigers in that golfers must complete three rounds over a two-day period.

Northeast's three-month hiatus from the winter weather comes to a close in early February at The Oaks Golf Club. It is the Tigers' first tournament in Pass Christian since the spring of 2012.

Philadelphia's Dancing Rabbit Golf Club and Northwood Country Club in Meridian are the fifth and sixth MACCC event locations, respectively, for the second consecutive year during March.

Postseason sites in April include The Oaks for the MACCC Tournament and Beau Pre' for the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Gulf District Tournament. Pearl River Community College and Copiah-Lincoln Community College are the designated host institutions for those competitions.
