BOONEVILLE, Miss. - Northeast Mississippi Community College's athletic facilities will soon blossom back to life following a three-plus month shutdown due to the coronavirus pandemic with several youth activities.
The men's basketball program will hold three summer camps throughout the month of July while the softball team hosts a showcase event on Tuesday, July 7.
Basketball's endeavors begin with youngsters in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade from July 6-9 and concludes July 20-23 with middle school and high school aged children. Both of those camps run from 8 a.m. to noon daily and cost $60.
There is also a specialized prospect camp for ninth-through-twelfth graders that starts at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 20. The enrollment fee for this event, which should last approximately three hours, is $40.
Those that are present will work on ball handling, dribbling, shooting, passing, rebounding, defense and other essential techniques while enjoying a fun and relaxing environment.
Softball's annual showcase is open to unsigned seniors in the class of 2020, uncommitted juniors that graduate in 2021 and the remaining high school classes including incoming freshmen. It begins at 9 a.m. with a cost of $50.
Coaches from multiple two-and-four year institutions from across the Southeast, including the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee, are tentatively scheduled to attend this exhibition.
Athletes are expected to bring their own gear with them such as cleats, tennis shoes, a hat or visor, batting gloves, a glove or mitt, a bat, a helmet and catching gear if applicable.
Early registration is highly encouraged. Each camp will accept only a limited number of applicants due to social distancing guidelines still in place from the Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Online registration is accessible for the softball showcase by clicking HERE. All participants must provide a copy of a physical in the past 12 months and sign an injury waiver before stepping onto the playing surface at the "Field of Dreams" complex.
