SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Andison Coby gives the Northeast Mississippi Community College football program a representative in the inaugural expanded version of the College Football Playoff (CFP).

Coby and Indiana University will travel to in-state rival the University of Notre Dame for a first round matchup on Friday, December 20. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. with live coverage on both ABC and ESPN.

The winner advances to play the University of Georgia in the Allstate Sugar Bowl on New Year's Day. The national championship game is slated for Monday, January 20 at Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The Hoosiers earned the No. 10 seed in the CFP by setting a new program record with 11 regular season wins. Indiana also broke its previous marks for longest winning streak at 10 and most Big Ten Conference victories with eight.

"That's a great honor for Andison," said Northeast head coach Greg Davis. "He's a spectacular player and a great kid. For him to stick it out and stay with the team that he wanted to transfer to, I think that's big."

Coby, who wears jersey number zero, is wrapping up his final campaign with the Hoosiers. He has appeared in all 36 games while at Indiana with 10 total starts at the wide receiver position.

He has caught a touchdown in each of his three seasons at Indiana. Coby reached the end zone earlier this fall during the Hoosiers' week two home triumph over Western Illinois University.

His cumulative statistics at Indiana include 26 catches for 348 yards. The Fort Lauderdale, Fla., native originally signed with the University of Tennessee after spending his true freshman year with the Tigers.

Coby was at Northeast during its coronavirus shortened 2020 campaign. He helped the Tigers finish as the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) North Division runner-up with a 5-1 overall record.

He secured all-conference honors twice both as a wideout and on special teams. Coby accounted for eight touchdowns for Northeast that season between receptions and kickoffs.

Coby was sensational against Northwest Mississippi Community College with a career-long 61-yard catch-and-run along with a 98-yard score on a kickoff return. He averaged 17.6 yards per reception for the Tigers.

He also registered a 100-plus yard receiving performance in a win by the Tigers at Mississippi Delta Community College. His career numbers between Northeast, Tennessee and Indiana are 51 catches for 775 yards with 10 touchdowns.
