BOONEVILLE, Miss. - The Thursday night lights will once again shine brightly on the hallowed grounds of Northeast Mississippi Community College during the fall of 2024.
The Tigers will host the maximum amount of five games for the third time in the last four years as part of the 65th football season in school history.
"It's always great to play in front of your fans. I think that's important," said Northeast head coach Greg Davis. "It's a schedule full of good competition. This is a tough league. You've got to go out there and have success early."
The Tigers open at home for the second consecutive campaign when East Central Community College comes to town on August 29th. Northeast actually plays three of its first four contests inside Tiger Stadium.
Northeast welcomes Southwest Mississippi Community College one week later for the final tune up before the start of the division slate inside the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) for both teams.
There are four commonalities for the Tigers from their 2023 schedule. Northeast visits Mississippi Delta Community College and Northwest Mississippi Community College for the second year in a row on September 12th and 26th, respectively.
Oppositely, Holmes Community College and Itawamba Community College travel to the Tigers for a second straight season. Northeast meets the Bulldogs on September 19th while the rivalry matchup with the Indians takes place on October 24th.
Homecoming activities take over the Booneville campus during the first full week of October. The Tigers' opponent for that important event is East Mississippi Community College on the 10th.
Northeast does have to deal with one weekend game on the road once again. The annual "Battle of the Tigers" serves as Coahoma Community College's homecoming on Saturday, October 19.
The Tigers are set for a spooky finale with a trip to Copiah-Lincoln Community College on Halloween night. It is the first time since 2011 that Northeast concludes the regular season with a non-division contest.
One significant change is the introduction of a conference-wide bye date. No games are on the docket for any MACCC member during what would traditionally be week six, which falls between October 3-5 this year.
"We're gearing up once again. It's here and we're fired up," Davis said. "We've got a lot of growing up to do in the summer and fall camp so we can get ready. We're going to see what we're made of that's for sure."
Kickoff times for each of the Tigers' home matchups remains at 6:30 p.m. with the exception of homecoming. That contest will begin at 7 p.m. due to the extra festivities on that day, including Northeast's sports and alumni hall of fame induction ceremony.
