NORTHEAST HITS THE ROAD TO FACE EAST MISSISSIPPI TONIGHT IN SCOOBA

BOONEVILLE, Miss. –  Northeast Mississippi Community College's men and women's basketball teams will travel to Scooba tonight to take on the East Mississippi Community College in another key north division match-up.

Coach Brian Alexander and company defeated the Lady Lions in the first match up between these two squads back on January 17, 54-42 in Booneville. 

Northeast is 14-6 overall and 6-2 in the North Division and will look to continue to hold down the North Division's second spot with a victory on the road. 

East Mississippi is 5-14 overall and 3-5 in the division, 4-4 at home and 0-9 on the road. 

Northeast will be look for freshman duo LaTonya Gadison (Rosedale) and Angelia Allen (Belmont) to lead the way. 

Both players are leading the team in scoring with Gadison averaging 11.6 points per game (PPG) while Allen averages 12.5 points per outing. Gadison had a game-high 17 points in the first meeting between these two ball teams at Bonner Arnold Coliseum.

David Robbins' squad will try to pick up a big win on the road against the Lions who defeated the Tigers back on January 17, 76-62.

Northeast will travel to Scooba with an overall record of 8-10 and 3-5 in the division while the Lions are 13-6, 6-2 respectively.  East Mississippi is 6-2 at home and 6-3 on the road while Northeast is 5-4 at home and 3-6 on the road. 

With only the four best teams in each the north and south divisions of the MACJC making it into the post-season, the Tigers are in need a win on the road tonight.  The Lions are sitting at the number two spot --just behind Northwest (7-2) -- in the North, while the Tigers are currently at the sixth spot – just in front of Itawamba Community College, who is in last place in the North Division.

Northeast has four players averaging double digits on the year -- Acie Vance (14.8 PPG), Tyler Brunson (12.5 PPG) , Kadorian Sullivan (11.5 PPG), and Tadarius Coburn (10.2 PPG) 

Vance scored 21 points in the first match with the Lions followed by 12 points from Coburn.

Tip time is set for 5:30 p.m. for the women and the men will follow.
