BOYD LEADS LADY TIGERS OVER COAHOMA; COBURN’S 27 POINT EFFORT NOT ENOUGH THE TIGERS

Clarksdale, Miss. –  Talisha Boyd led the way for the Lady Tigers in the opener with 14 points and seven rebounds to help defeat the Coahoma Community College (CCC) Lady Tigers 69-47, while Tadarius Coburn hit a game high 27 points on nine boards in the Tigers 75-63 loss in the second game of the North Division doubleheader.

Boyd, a 5-10 sophomore from Natchioches, went 6-of-9 from the floor and made 2-of-4 from the free throw line to help propel head coach Brian Alexander and company to a 7-6 overall record while improving to 3-1 in the north division. Jasmine Brown had a team high 13 points for Coahoma who dropped to 3-9 and 0-4, respectively.

Coburn, a 6-6 sophomore from New Albany, had the best night of his community college career on Tuesday with his performance -- hitting on 9-of-14 from the floor, 2-for-2 from behind the arc and knocked down 7-of-11 from the charity stripe.  Coburn also had four steals and two blocks in his effort for Northeast.

Robbins' normal top performers, Acie Vance (Ripley) and Tyler Brunson (Atlanta, Ga.), only managed to add two points into the mix in the nightcap as the Tigers dropped to 6-7 overall and 1-3 in the north.

Coahoma's top scorers were Patrick Brown, who had 23 points, followed by teammate Rigueson Desorvil who added 15 points for CCC who improved to 6-7, 2-2.

Next up for Northeast will be Holmes Community College at Bonner Arnold Coliseum. 

Holmes will travel into Booneville with the Lady Bulldogs currently sitting at  6-8 overall and 1-2 in the north division while the Bulldogs are 8-6, 2-1.

Tip time is set for 5:30 p.m. for the ladies contest and the men are set to follow.
