Booneville, Miss.,--Northeast Mississippi Community College's basketball teams will travel to Decatur tonight to take on the East Central Warriors and Lady Warriors in a rematch of non-division opponents.
Both the Tigers and Lady Tigers were able to defeat East Central Community College back on November 5 at Bonner Arnold Coliseum. Coach David Robbins led his team to an 88-83 win and Coach Brian Alexander commanded his squad down victory lane on a final score of 83-75.
The Tigers (1-2, 0-0) were led by sophomore guard Acie Vance (Ripley), who scored 21 points to go along with four assists, while the Lady Tigers (1-2, 0-0) were led by freshman Angelia Allen (Belmont), who had her first collegiate career double-double with 18 points, 11 boards and seven assists.
However, that was Northeast's last win on the hardwood, with the Tigers and Lady Tigers dropping their last two match-ups on the road with non-division opponents Wallace State-Hanceville and Jones County Junior College.
Northeast will hope for both Vance and Allen to pick back up where they left off in their last game with East Central with Vance being the team's leading scorer averaging 13 points per game and Allen is second in scoring for the Lady Tigers averaging 14 points per game – just behind freshman Kay K. Tate (Dyersburg, Tenn.), who averages 17.
Coach Robbins will have to find a way to slow down Hakeem Wesley for the Warriors. Wesley dropped in a game high 29 points in the November 5th contest. Jaianah Matthew had a game high 22 points for the Lady Warriors when they met the Lady Tigers in Booneville.
Coach Alexander's team will take the floor first tipping off at 6 p.m. while Coach Robbins' unit will follow to complete the twinbill in Decatur.
