Booneville, Miss. - Basketball unofficially returns to the heart of Hill Country as Northeast Mississippi Community College once again offers its fans a chance to meet its talented teams.

The Lady Tigers and Tigers will hold their third annual Late Night Madness event inside historic Bonner Arnold Coliseum beginning at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 17.

"We want to use this time as an opportunity to introduce our teams and let the people see who they are and what they can do in a fun atmosphere," said Northeast head coach Cord Wright.

"That's what it's all about. It's also a time to bring in some people from the community that don't always get to come by and see us. It's a different time of the night that we participate in this. It's just a high energy and fun night. Everybody's in a loose setting and having a good time."

Student-athletes and coaches will connect with their advocates throughout the approximately two-hour long extravaganza. Both squads and the cheerleaders will be introduced to get things underway.

The Tigers will showcase their high flying abilities with a slam dunk competition while the Lady Tigers compete in a hot shot contest with the goal of accumulating as many points as possible by shooting from certain spots on the floor.

Both the men and women are also slated to display their skills from long range with three-point matches. Fans will be invited onto the court as well to join the Lady Tigers and Tigers for a knockout shooting game.

The Domino's Pizza restaurant in Booneville is giving Northeast students that are in attendance the chance to win some great prizes, including free pizzas through various activities.

Third-year head coach Brenda Mayes and her Lady Tigers take the floor for a scrimmage at approximately 9:30 p.m. while Wright's Tigers wrap up the festivities with an exhibition of their own at the conclusion of the women's matchup.

Northeast's reputation for greatness in basketball is unmatched in the Magnolia State. The Tigers are the reigning Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) North Division champions and also have nine region titles to their credit.

The Lady Tigers are one of the most tradition-rich squads in the entire country as well with one national championship, 10 MACJC state titles and 10 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Americans over the years.
