BOONEVILLE, Miss. - Northeast Mississippi Community College's annual celebration of the start of football season is returning for the fifth consecutive year.

Northeast will host its "Meet the Tigers" night on Tuesday, August 27 at 6 p.m. at the Booneville Domino's Pizza restaurant, which is located in the Second Street Plaza on Walmart Circle.

"I couldn't be any happier with this event," said Tigers headman Greg Davis. "Our players really just get to hang out and enjoy it. It's a great time for the community to get to know our athletes as well. We're excited for another great year."

Northeast's student-athletes and entire coaching staff will interact with their supporters during the yearly festival, which is slated to last approximately one hour in length.

Followers of the Tigers can pick up schedule posters and wallet-sized cards, which will be available while supplies last, and have them autographed by members of the 60-man roster.

The Showband from Tigerland and the Tiger Dancers will provide entertainment and present a sneak peak of their halftime show for the 2019 campaign entitled "Determination."

Northeast's cheerleading squad, which is under the direction of fifth-year head coach Chasity Moore, and Spirit the Tiger are also set to make their 2019-20 debut to give fans an extra reason to roar.

Domino's is providing various giveaways and special promotions for the Tigers' constituents. Twenty percent of any sales that evening will directly benefit Northeast's football operations.

Several slices of pizza along with ice-cold soft drinks will be given away at no charge to those in attendance. A record-breaking crowd of over 700 individuals attended the previous edition of "Meet the Tigers" in 2018.

The Tigers are gaining recognition prior to the beginning of their new year after receiving votes in the National Junior College Athletic Association's (NJCAA) preseason rankings.

Northeast's 60th football campaign in school history starts on Thursday, August 29 when Southwest Mississippi Community College visits Tiger Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in the season opener for both teams.
