Booneville, Miss. - The Northeast Mississippi Community College football program has always placed a special emphasis on its annual Pink Out Game.

But this year the Tigers will wear more than just the pink wristbands and socks that have complimented their traditional uniforms during previous editions of Breast Cancer Awareness Night.

Northeast will don a brand new jersey that includes pink numerals and writing during its upcoming game against nationally ranked Jones College on Thursday, October 11.

"It's a privilege to do this," said Tigers head coach Greg Davis. "This is something that hasn't been done here before. Our kids are really excited about it. We're looking forward to it."

The specialized jerseys are manufactured by adidas, which provides quality apparel that utilizes the latest technology for athletic programs at all levels across the country and the world.

The jersey is primarily black in color with white stripes on the sleeves as well. A pink "Northeast" in all capital letters emblazons the front with bold pink numerals on both the front and back.

The Tigers are offering their fans a chance to honor those that have bravely battled cancer by customizing these jerseys. A close friend or family member can be honored with their name on the back of the jersey for just $50.

Northeast's student-athletes will represent these individuals on the field as they battle the Bobcats. The jerseys will then be available to pickup on the Booneville campus as a memorial keepsake on Monday, October 15.

ACCO Brands Corporation, which is one of the world's largest designers, marketers and manufacturers of branded academic, consumer and business products with a sizable facility in Booneville, is partnering with the Tigers on this significant project.

Fifty percent of all jersey sales will be matched by ACCO Brands and donated to City of Hope, which is a world leader in the research and treatment of cancer based in California. It is one of just 49 comprehensive cancer centers in the United States as designated by the National Cancer Institute.

"This is a great thing for both ACCO and us," Davis said. "Some of our players have actually purchased the jerseys and we're opening it up to the public as well. We're anticipating a lot of good things coming out of this."

Payments for the jerseys can be made with cash, debit or credit cards. Make checks payable to Northeast Football and send by mail to the Northeast Development Foundation, Attn: Pink Out Jersey, 101 Cunningham Blvd., Booneville, Miss., 38829.
