Booneville, Miss. - The Northeast Mississippi Community College football program is giving its fans a chance to celebrate a new season and mingle with its student-athletes two days prior to kickoff.

Northeast will hold its annual "Meet the Tigers" night on Tuesday, August 28 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Booneville Domino's Pizza restaurant, which is located in the Second Street Plaza on Walmart Circle.

"This is a phenomenal community event," said Tigers headman Greg Davis. "This is the fourth year we're gonna do this and it's been wonderful. It's always a great opportunity for us to give back."

Northeast's student-athletes and coaches will connect with their constituents throughout the yearly extravaganza, which is scheduled to last approximately an hour-and-a-half.

Followers of the Tigers can pick up a schedule poster and have it autographed by members of the team. Posters along with wallet-sized schedules are available on a first come, first serve basis.

The Showband from Tigerland and the Tiger Dancers will be present to provide entertainment and give a sneak peak of their plans for game nights this fall inside Tiger Stadium.

Northeast's cheerleading squad, which is under the direction of fourth-year head coach Chasity Moore, will make their 2018-19 debut as well to showcase any new routines learned during the summer.

Domino's is providing various giveaways and special promotions for the Tigers' supporters. Twenty percent of any sales that evening will directly benefit Northeast's football operations.

Several slices of pizza will be given away at no charge to those that are present. A record-breaking crowd of over 500 individuals attended the previous edition of "Meet the Tigers" in 2017.

Northeast has found success on the gridiron over the last 16 years. The Tigers have captured three Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) North Division championships and accepted a bid to their inaugural bowl game during that stretch.

The 2018 campaign for Northeast begins on Thursday, August 30 at Southwest Mississippi Community College. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. at John I. Hurst Stadium in Summit.

The Tigers' home opener is one week later when Copiah-Lincoln Community College visits the City of Hospitality. Northeast then starts MACJC North Division play against Coahoma Community College on Thursday, September 13 in Booneville.
