NEMCC COMPLETES YEARLY HOMECOMING BY MEETING TROJANS

Booneville, Miss. - Northeast Mississippi Community College will conclude one of its biggest weeks of the 2015-16 academic year with a big Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) North Division showdown on the gridiron.

The Tigers welcome Mississippi Delta Community College to complete a full day of homecoming activities on Thursday, October 1. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. at Tiger Stadium.

Those that cannot attend the matchup can watch it live on NEMCCTV, which is the broadcast home of all nine Northeast intercollegiate athletic programs. Join Jeremy Kennedy and Bryan Fenley at 6:30 p.m. for the pregame show by visiting www.nemcctv.com on any computer, smartphone or tablet.

Fans can also keep up with all the action using live in-game updates on Twitter by searching and following @NEMCCTigers. Interact during the contest by using the hashtag #TigerPower across all social media platforms.

The festivities are scheduled to begin at 12:10 p.m. with a pep rally on the Booneville campus in front of Ramsey Hall. The 13-member homecoming court will make its first official appearance at this event.

Northeast then holds its annual Alumni and Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremonies at 4 p.m. in the Claude Wright Room of the Haney Union. The athletic nominees this year include Phillip Chapman, Donnie Clayton, Robert Henry, Tamica Pierce Jones and Tim Kesler.

Pregame entertainment starts approximately 30 minutes before the matchup gets underway and features the recognition of the newest Northeast Alumni and Sports Hall of Fame members as well as the Showband from Tigerland.

Homecoming queen Lindee Witt of Corinth and the remainder of her court, which includes Northeast cheerleaders Shelbi Barnes, Carli Bullard, Addison Carter, Ashley Flowers, Lindie Hill, Rebekah Holt and Anna Claire Ivy, take center stage at halftime.

The Tigers face Mississippi Delta in their annual homecoming contest for the tenth time in program history. Only East Mississippi Community College has appeared at more homecomings than the Trojans.

Northeast is seeking its second consecutive victory after defeating Coahoma Community College on the road. The Tigers compiled season-highs of 530 total yards and 315 yards on the ground in the winning effort.

"We want to capitalize off what we got going last week," said Northeast head coach Greg Davis. "We physically lined up and played the game the way we were supposed to. The offense is balanced and we want to continue with that."

Kendrick Doss guided the tremendous output by the Tigers from behind center. The University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) transfer now has 757 yards through the air in five starts and a team-best five rushing touchdowns.

Tiberias Lampkin recorded his second 100-yard running performance this season against the host Tigers. The West Oktibbeha High School graduate tops Northeast with 74 carries and 374 yards overall.

Four separate wideouts have at least 10 catches for the Tigers. Bruce's Donta Armstrong has the most receptions with 18 while Joe Horn, Jr., of Atlanta, Ga., guides Northeast with 257 yards.

Tupelo native Demarcus Rogers has accumulated a team-high 28 tackles through his initial five games with the Tigers. Sophomores Shaquille Bush, Woodrow Prince and Brady Smith have combined for 65 stops in the defensive backfield.

Reigning MACJC All-State selection Justin Williams of East Oktibbeha High School and Pontotoc's Nicky Martin are tied for the most tackles for loss on the squad with four apiece.

Martin and Williams each have a pair of sacks to their credit as well. Grenada standout Brandon Tillman has four pass break ups to lead Northeast (1-4, 1-2) in that category.

The Trojans (1-4, 1-1) utilize a two-quarterback system with Devin Adams and Gregory Conley. The duo combined for over 175 yards through the air in a win versus Coahoma two weeks ago.

Quadre Butler is the starting running back for the Trojans while Juwan Dickey is a very talented receiver. Dickey had 122 yards on only four catches during Mississippi Delta's matchup at Coahoma.

"They're going to try to get off the edge offensively," Davis said. "They do like to throw the ball around a little bit. Up front they're pretty solid on the line with man blocking schemes."

The Tigers have not allowed the Trojans to score more than 14 points in each of the last six meetings between the two institutions. Northeast has won four of the matchups in that stretch.

Mississippi Delta took advantage of five turnovers by the Tigers to claim a 14-7 triumph in Moorhead during the previous campaign. The Trojans are also ahead in the all-time series 30-20.
