Booneville, Miss. - One of the busiest summers ever for the Northeast Mississippi Community College athletic department begins with the boys of summer and their yearly event to help local kids improve their abilities on the diamond.
The Northeast baseball program has scheduled its annual youth camp over a three-day period between May 29-31 at the friendly confines of Harold T. White Field.
It is open to any student in the first-through-sixth grades. Northeast head coach Richy Harrelson will direct the camp and ensure quality instruction is provided to those in attendance.
Current and former Tigers are scheduled to assist Harrelson to help direct the different drills and tasks each day, which begins at 9 a.m. and concludes just in time for lunch at noon.
Youngsters will attempt to grasp the fundamentals of the sport in order to develop proper playing habits. Harrelson and his staff also try to teach the mental aspect of America's pastime through sportsmanship, leadership and citizenship.
Boys will have time to work on their hitting, defense, pitching and base running techniques all while competing in a fun and relaxing environment in the City of Hospitality.
Individual guidance is frequently used to encourage campers, correct any faults or mistakes and to perfect the skills that they are developing through consistent organized practice.
Each participant is expected to bring their own gear, which includes but is not limited to athletic apparel, cleats, a uniform, batting gloves, catching gear, a glove and a bat. Baseballs will be provided at the stadium.
Campers are expected to comply with all rules and must follow instructions given by any advisor. A violation or abuse of this policy may result in an immediate dismissal without any refund.
Pre-registration is currently open at a cost of $75 for the entire session while walk-ups are accepted on the first morning of the camp for $85. Tuition includes a camp t-shirt and accident insurance.

The Tigers are coming off another excellent season that saw them qualify for the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 23 playoffs. Northeast is also eagerly anticipating the start of its on-campus complex as part of the "Field of Dreams" campaign.
