Jon Andy Scott, the son of Northeast Mississippi Community College Sports Hall of Fame coach and current vice president of student services Ray Scott, will don the black and gold once again as he guides the Tigers' pitching staff for a fifth consecutive campaign in 2018.

Scott has moved at least one of his pitchers onto the four-year level during each of his initial four seasons at Northeast. Among that listing is Ethan Taylor (Arkansas Tech University), Taylor Bobo (University of Memphis [Tenn.]) and most recently Ryan Wesson (University of Alabama at Birmingham).

He was instrumental in guiding Northeast to a first-round best-of-three playoff victory over Pearl River Community College in 2014. Northeast earned the right to host the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) State Tournament for the inaugural time under its current format with the series win.

Scott finished his playing career with two seasons at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) after putting on the Northeast uniform during the 2009 season.

During his senior year, Scott made nine relief appearances and posted a sensational 0.77 earned run average (ERA) and was a part of three shutouts with the Rebels.

Scott tossed 11.2 innings for Ole Miss and did not allow an earned run until his final appearance on the mound against Arkansas State University on May 15, 2012.

He fanned five and conceded just one walk while allowing only three runs. He saw action in shutouts versus the University of Houston (Texas), Jackson State University and the University of Central Arkansas.

Scott made two relief appearances as a junior on the Oxford campus. He opened his career at Ole Miss with a scoreless inning of relief that included three strikeouts and one walk against Austin Peay State (Tenn.) University on March 2, 2011.

The Booneville native also took the hill later in the season for head coach Mike Bianco's club against Southeast Missouri State University.

Scott was a steward in the classroom as well during his time at Ole Miss. At the culmination of his junior year, Scott was named to the prestigious Southeastern Conference (SEC) Spring Academic Honor Roll.

Scott was one of 61 Ole Miss student-athletes to receive the accolade and was one of only 10 Rebel diamond standouts that were placed on this phenomenal list.

As a member of Northeast's 2009 baseball team, Scott was one of seven Tigers to be inducted into the Iota Zeta chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society. He joined Wheeler's Neal Tice, Kossuth's Patrick Hinton, Iuka's Seth Kennedy, Pontotoc's Nick McGregor, Oxford's Jake Mills and Clinton's Phillip Chapman.

For inclusion into the Phi Theta Kappa honor society, Scott attained a 3.5 grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale to join and maintained a 3.25 GPA to stay in good standing with the organization throughout his time at Northeast.

Scott lifted Northeast to a 33-14 record and a 17-7 mark in the MACJC North Division in 2009. The Tigers hosted the opening round of the state playoffs after claiming the division runner-up spot.

He appeared in 11 games for the Tigers and threw 49 total innings. Scott gave up just 19 earned runs while striking out 46 and allowing 22 walks.

He posted a 6-4 mark during his only year at Northeast and had a stellar 2.71 ERA.

Scott was a part of 21 games during his collegiate career. He tossed 56.2 innings with zero home runs conceded and 52 strikeouts compared to only 25 walks.

He lettered at Booneville High School under the tutelage of Bo Sandlin prior to signing with Northeast and batted .445 as a senior in 2007. Scott also sported a solid 0.78 ERA on the mound in 45 innings pitched.

Scott was a two-time All-Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Division 1, Class 3A first-team selection. He also clocked time with the Jackson 96'ers and the Tallahatchie Rascals of the Cotton States Baseball League in New Albany.

He and his wife Kacie married in the summer of 2016. His brother, Jake, is also a former volunteer assistant coach for the baseball program at Northeast.
